Here are some ideas for the super Buff Guys that performed in the circus. Tried a different approach with drawing straight into photoshop with the pencil tool. pretty neat line quality.

I'm working on a theme based off of early 1900's Circus (i.e. P.T. Barnum's Circus), and I'm find so many interesting aspects that really make great attributes in characters based off of real Circus performers.

I hadn't practiced figure drawings in awhile, and I was prepped to go draw..hoping it be a fanastic model..and it was! Someone I had never drawn, and he had great dramatic poses for 3 hrs.

Here's a little character sketch of the witch from Wizard of Oz, I added a paint brush texture to her face, and I found it looked pretty neat, besides she has a yucky complexion anyway...she's a witch.

These are some space crusader vixens. The top sketch is a space "cowgirl" and she travels space in search of special treasures and stealing them, sometimes she gets into trouble with the law.

This is a maquette that I built based off of Spaldo, one of the ghost hunters I designed. It was a struggle at first since I had to imagine the bone structure inside, but he's a fat chubby fellow so I had to imagine his disproportionate body since he's not based off realistic proportions. I've learned a lot from doing this project, especially letting clay dry slowly and from now on not taking it out of the oven right away since it will mostly crack, which it did. :( But no worries, it was just in his foot, easily fixable. :)

Here is my Chinese shadow puppeteer character that I designed in my BFA class last past semester. He is a small old man, charismatic, but he has bad intentions when he teaches his monkey to steal from peoples' homes while he performs a show in their village.

Here are my lastest figure drawings from Jun. 6th. I've never drawn this model, and she was really good, she got into character with her pirate hat and sword. I'll try to practice drawing figures more by attending these sessions every wed. I try to keep them loose with gesture but I still want indicate everything like toes and hands.

Ghost Hunter Characters

Here are some ghost hunter characters that I designed in my senior BFA class. I wrote a little synopsis under the characters which describes their role in the team. This was a really fun project and a good exercise with photoshop. I'm still working on pushing shapes/design in my drawings.

Here is my character "Carlos" the shoesalesman based off of the story "Cruel Shoes" by Steve Martin. I imagined him being a high class french guy, but with a name like Carlos, I've decided to make him still have that high class demeanor but working in a small shoe boutique in the middle of the city.

Here is my character "Butter" who I designed from one of the short stories from BFA. He is the pet of a banker's wife. I tried to explore and bring out his character through some poses.

Storyboard Sequence from "Heart of Darkness"

These are boards I did for BFA from the book "Heart of Darkness" which is about a captain of a steamer, Marlow, who goes into the congo in search of a station manger, Mr. Kurtz, who has gone crazy. In this particular scene, as they travel closer to Mr. Kurtz's station, his steamer gets ambushed by the natives who are trying to protect and prevent them from reaching and taking away Mr. Kurtz. As I look at them now, there are changes I would make in the placement of some of the boards to create more anticipation and more interesting storytelling.

This is the first bg painting I tried at Nickelodeon. A useful tip Nick Jennings, the first art dir. of Spongebob, gave me was he sprayed water on the painting to keep it wet with a airbrush gun cause it gives a light even mist.
